The writers building the world of the Rivening — one torn sky at a time.

April Horinek

April Horinek

Founder & Urban Fantasy Author

April Horinek founded Rivening Press, and if you ask her why she writes the stories she does, it usually comes back to the same thing: she's always loved liminal spaces — the quiet, weightless beat between one breath and the next, before you've decided yet what comes next. Those are the spaces her stories keep coming back to.

She's spent over a decade writing professionally: tabletop RPGs, fiction ghostwriting, and small-press work. Tales From the Rivening, her flagship series and the one she writes under her own name, is that same fascination turned up as loud as it gets: this is what happens when the in-between stops holding.

She lives on the Oregon coast, in the strip of land where the river and the sea blur, with her husband, their two kids, and more cats than anyone's still bothering to count. Most days, you can find her somewhere close to the water

Rowena Cassidy

Rowena Cassidy

Paranormal Romance Author

Rowena Cassidy writes paranormal romance with teeth: sexy shifter stories where her heroines don't wait around for rescue — they pick the lock themselves, usually with an Alpha in forced proximity growling about it the whole way. She's the author of The Veilport Shifters, a five-book series that opens with Locked Out: a retired thief and a grief-hardened Alpha, 72 hours to stop a war three decades in the making. It's not always a fated mate. It's always a fight worth having.

Her books have been called "feral, fast-paced, and shamelessly hot."

Evelyn Vane

Dark Fantasy Author

Evelyn Vane lives in a decaying Victorian estate on the outskirts of Blackwood, Massachusetts, where the salt fog rarely clears. A former archivist of forgotten folklore and occult history, she writes her novels entirely by hand during the small hours between midnight and 3:00 AM—the only window, she claims, when her house sits completely still.

When she isn't drafting tales of psychological dread and missing towns, Evelyn collects Victorian mourning jewelry, presses toxic belladonna, and restores antique glass-eye taxidermy.

She shares her home with three stray crows and something quiet that lives behind the cellar wall. She asks that you do not send fan mail to her physical address; the local postal service refuses to walk up the driveway after dusk.

Viola Rose Locke

Viola Rose Locke

Paranormal Women's Fiction Author

Viola Rose Locke writes paranormal women's fiction for the women who've been carrying everything and getting no credit for it — perimenopausal, pissed, and finally done pretending otherwise. Her heroines have spent decades holding everything and everyone together with nothing but sheer will, and her books pick up exactly where that stops being sustainable: when the power they gave away for everyone else's sake starts asking to come home.

She's the author of The Severed Threads, beginning with The Weaver's Call — a woman who traded her power for a quiet life, and finds out the trade was never actually final. There's romance in these books. It's just never what she's really fighting for. When she's not writing, she's usually somewhere within sight of water — a cottage on the coast with more cats underfoot than she meant to keep.
