Send Us Your Work
Two open doors right now. Here's what fits where.
Every reality it touches gets its own version of the same morning — the one where the sky doesn't hold, and nothing that used to be ordinary stays that way. Dispatches from the Far Side collects those mornings: a 911 call nobody at the call center believed until the second one came in, a field journal filled out two hours into a siege nobody has a name for yet — first contact, however a given reality happened to record it.
Some of it is funny, because plenty of people cope with the end of normal by refusing to be solemn about it. Just as much of it isn't. All of it comes from writers and artists who found their way here because this is the one place a whole multiverse's worth of first days gets to be told.
Volume One of Dispatches from the Far Side.
An anthology of first days, told by everyone who found a way to survive one.
Submissions are now open!
A note on timing: the Dispatches call is open year-round and doesn't close after Volume One ships. If your piece doesn't make this volume — because the volume's full, or it's more "long after" than "day zero" — that's not a pass. Strong work gets held and folded into a later volume rather than sent back to start over.
Response time runs 4–8 weeks from submission to a decision. Full format specs and submission guidelines: [link].
Not every story that comes through our door has to be set in our multiverse. If you write speculative fiction that stands entirely on its own — its own world, its own rules, nothing borrowed — we want to see it too. What matters more than genre labels is whether the strange in your story feels real, and whether the people in it do.
We're not asking artists to send print-ready files on spec. Show us your work, and we'll ask for the rest if it's a fit.
